Star Devil

This is my second demo reel piece from Gnomon, created with the guidance of Demo Reel instructor Miguel Ortega and Creature Modeling and Sculpting instructor Jared Krichevsky.

It is an original concept inspired by the prompt Jared gave us in class, which was to create an "uninvited guest". The idea behind this creature is that he uses little fabric stars to build the trust of abandoned children and then lure them away, never to be seen again. His intentions are unclear, but the children are never afraid of him.

This piece was a lot of fun to work on, but also had me realize just how challenging working from your own concept can be. Any aspect is subject to change on a whim, and some details can be left unclear more so than if working from an existing concept. Regardless, it was a great exercise and I will definitely be doing it again in the future.
